JUAN DIEGO RUIZ
I am a walking paradox—equal parts philosopher and fool, existentialist and entertainer. My comedy blends raw vulnerability with absurdity, making audiences laugh while questioning their own existence. Whether I’m deconstructing the pitfalls of modern dating apps, exposing the absurdity of human behavior, or delivering existential truths wrapped in punchlines, I strive to turn deep self-reflection into something both unsettling and hilarious. I see myself as a modern expression of the ancient jester archetype, a chaotic truth-teller in the spirit of Diogenes and the qalandariyyah, drawing inspiration from meta-comedians like Andy Kaufman, Stewart Lee, and Ignatius Farray.
Growing up in a household where love was a taboo word and success was measured in degrees, I learned early on that humor was both a weapon and a refuge. It became my way of making sense of the world, of pushing back against the rigid expectations around me. My performances are shaped by this same curiosity—an impulse to question norms, to explore the line between comedy and personal truth, and to find meaning in the absurd.
I’m not just telling jokes—I’m documenting my own existential crisis in real time. My latest project, Find the Juan, is a satirical take on modern dating culture, proving that sometimes, the only way to beat the system is to become the system. If you’re looking for comedy that makes you laugh, think, and maybe even spiral into an identity crisis, I might just be the Juan.
