GESUALDO
I am a musician deeply inspired by the legacy of Renaissance composer Carlo Gesualdo, whose unconventional harmonies and raw emotional depth resonate with me. Drawn to themes of darkness and complexity, I embrace music as a way to explore the depths of human emotion—rejecting easy categorization in favor of something more visceral and unfiltered.
As the guitarist, songwriter, and frontman of STONEFLIES, I channel these ideas into sound, blending technical precision with atmosphere. My writing gravitates toward themes of human vulnerability, societal struggles, and existential reflection, shaped by my fascination with philosophy and the works of Dante, William Blake, H.P. Lovecraft, and Edgar Allan Poe. Lyrically and musically, I seek contrast—beauty and brutality, light and shadow—echoing the tension and unpredictability that define Gesualdo’s compositions.
Vocally, I explore the full spectrum of expression, shifting between intensity and fragility to enhance the emotional weight of the music. Beneath it all, I feel a deep connection to the archetype of the seeker—the one who questions, disrupts, and reimagines. I am drawn to figures who challenge imposed truths, who see doubt not as weakness but as a path to insight, and who embrace rebellion as a force for transformation. This restless pursuit of meaning fuels both my music and my perspective on the world.
